I am a absolute sucker for grapefruit, any time I see it on a menu my eyes light up! I wanted to create a yummy drink that is light & refreshing for spring. Let me tell you, grapefruit and elderflower go so great together. This drink is really easy to make and you can garnish it in so many ways. Here, I garnished with a grapefruit slice & a hibiscus flower to give it a nice pop of color, but any dehydrated fruit (grapefruit or lemon) would look great as well as edible flowers- which are so pretty by the way! So try this cocktail, then have an extra one for me! Cheers!
Recipe:
2 oz Vodka
.75 oz Elderflower Syrup
.75 oz Lemon Juice
1 oz Grapefruit Juice
Prosecco
Garnish: grapefruit slice (optional hibiscus flower, I got the hibiscus flowers in syrup at a local grocery store)
Directions:
- Add the vodka, elderflower syrup, lemon juice, & grapefruit juice together in a shaker tin with ice, & shake until well chilled/combined
- Strain into a wine glass filled with fresh ice
- Top with Prosecco
- Garnish with fresh grapefruit slice and/or whatever you’d like
Notes:
-Can sub out the vodka for any of the following; gin, rum, or tequila would all be great substitutions.
-Instead of prosecco you can also just top with soda water for an even lighter/refreshing version.
