Quick Homemade Pita Chips

While you can totally buy a bag of pita chips from the store, there is something about making them homemade and eating them with fresh homemade hummus too. To have them made within 10 minutes and the prep work being next to none, try making your own pita chips next time for that little extra added freshness! The best part, is you can then have them exactly how you like them! Whether that’s more crunchy or soft, or extra seasoning- you name it! This is a basic pita chip recipe, but you can certainly add any other seasonings or flavor you want! Let me know if you do, and how they turn out because I’d love to try it!

Recipe:

4 pitas or naan (cut in half flat wise if they are the pocket kind)

2 Tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

salt & pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Turn oven on to 375 F.
  2. Cut your pitas or naan bread into whichever shape you prefer, I always cut them each way about 4-5 times making 1-2 inch rectangles, once they are all cut place them in a mixing bowl.
  3. Drizzle on the olive oil, add in garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt and pepper, and stir to combine.
  4. Place on a cookie sheet, can place on foil if preferred, and bake for 5-10 minutes or until they have reached your desired doneness.
  5. Enjoy these pita chips with my delicious classic hummus recipe which you can find here.

Notes:

This recipe will make around 60-80 chips worth depending on the size you cut them into.

You can store in a freezer size ziplock or an air tight container for a few days (if they last that long (; )

We prefer using naan bread and baking them a little extra because they are so much thicker which we love because then they are crunchy on the outside and still somewhat soft in the middle!
