Maple syrup is one of my favorite things when I stopped buying at the store! I don’t know why it’s so satisfying making stuff like this at home. It’s so simple, but it’s also just so nice knowing what is going into everything you eat; It just takes minutes to make and costs a fraction of the price of buying it off the shelf (the good stuff anyway) So give this maple syrup a try and let me know what you think! It goes really well on top of my pancake recipe (;
Recipe:
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp cornstarch
1 Tablespoon maple extract
Directions:
- In a saucepan add both the sugars and cornstarch, then stir to combine. Mix in the cold water with a whisk, bring the mixture to a boil, while stirring occasionally.
- Let cook until it reaches the desired thickness you prefer (I usually do about 5-7 minutes)
- Add maple extract, stir to combine. Then reduce heat and let simmer for a couple more minutes.
- Remove from heat, and put in a bottle/jar. Will last a couple months in the fridge (but you’ll finish it before then😘)
